Tommi Parrish

Tommi Parrish is an Australian trans-masculine queer living in Massachusetts. Tommi's debut graphic novel was 2016's Perfect Hair with 2dCloud, followed by 2018's The Lie and How We Told It with Fantagraphics, which won the 2018 Lambda award for Best LGBTQ+ Graphic Novel, and which has been translated into six different languages. The painted style of their cartooning embodies and examines themes of fear, loneliness, the ephemerality of friendships and relationships, as well as identity and body politics. Tommi’s work explores the dissonance between the characters' interior and exterior experiences, chronicling not-always-healthy people attempting to make healthy connections in a disconnected world. Tommi’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, Granta, and The Believer and is in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of New South Wales.
